‘Gaze’ vying at VGIK Int’l Student Festival

Iranian short film ‘Gaze’ has been competing at the 41st VGIK Int'l Student Festival in Russia.

Iranian short film ‘Gaze’ has been competing at the 41st VGIK International Student Festival in Russia.

Directed by Farnoush Samadi, the 15-minute film is currently on screen at the 2021 edition of the event.

‘Gaze’ is about a woman who witnesses something happening in a bus while commuting home from work. She has to decide whether to bring it out to the public or not.

'Gaze' has so far competed at a number of internationally famous film festivals and won many awards including, the best film by audience choice at the Minimalen Short Film Festival in Norway, the Best Short Film award at the Guanajuato Int’l Film Festival in Mexico, the Golden Pram Award at the 16th Zagreb Film Festival in Croatia and a diploma of honor for best short film from the 21st Guanajuato Int’l Film Festival in Mexico.

‘Gaze’ has also received the best film award from the 31st American Film Institute Festival in 2017 and has been qualified for Academy Award known as Oscar.

The 41st edition of the VGIK has been undergoing since November 15 and is set to wrap up on November 19 in Moscow.

This year, the festival received 167 applications from 48 countries and 114 film schools.
